Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday said 83 percent people of the country now enjoy electricity services while the country is now producing 16,150MW of electricity.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina came up with the information while addressing the nation, marking the beginning of the fifth and the last year of her government’s successive second term in office.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina delivered her speech at 7:30 pm today.
The address was aired simultaneously on Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar as well as on private TV channels and radio stations.
In her speech, like previous years, the premier has highlighted the major achievements of the government and drew the priority agenda for the next year toward her ceaseless and strong endeavor to make Bangladesh a prosperous country.
During the address, Sheikh Hasina said: “The incumbent Awami League-led government will go ahead evaluating its success and failure of the past.”
“All registered political parties will take part in the next national election to help upholding the country’s democratic processes,” she expressed her firm conviction, pointing to the upcoming national polls.
On January 12 in 2014, she formed the government for the second consecutive term after a landslide victory in the election to the 10th Jatiya Sangsad.
