Model-actress Sarika has been banned from acting for six months by Television Programme Producers’ Association of Bangladesh for her “unprofessional behaviour”.
The decision was taken at the executive meeting of the organizing body on July 28 after filing a complaint by producer Burhan Khan. The ban came into force from August 1.
According to the producer, actress Sarika was about to travel to Nepal on March 21 for a drama shooting. She was also given Tk50,000 in advance and an air ticket. But Sarika didn’t reach to the airport to fly for Nepal.
She was tried several times on her mobile phone but found her phone switched off. Later, shooting unit left Dhaka for Nepal without Sarika.
Because of the absence of lead actress Sarika, the director couldn’t shoot the drama scene.
After returning to Dhaka, producer Burhan Khan lodged a complaint against Sarika showing financial loss.
Following the complaint, Television Programme Producers’ Association of Bangladesh tried several times to reach Sarika. However, Sarika didn’t respond.
