Dhaka: Ruling Awami League-backed syndicates are responsible for the hiking price of all daily commodities ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, says Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, senior joint secretary general of BNP.
The BNP leader came up with the allegations at its central office in capital’s Nayapaltan area on Monday.
Rizvi said: “Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith is trying to shut down all sugar mills of the country due to his failure in controlling the price of the sugar. Dishonest traders backed by the government are responsible for the price hike.”
BNP Vice-chairman Ahmed Azam Khan, Assistant Organising Secretary Abdus Salam Azad and Assistant Publicity Secretary Asadul Karim also were present among others in the press conference.
