Dhaka: BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia was taken to the capital’s old Central Jail from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) today.
She has been produced before the makeshift special court in connection with the Niko graft case.
According to the live reports of several numbers of private television stations, a Dhaka Metropolitan Police car carrying Khaleda Zia left the hospital premises around 11:30 am on Thursday.
Security measures in an around the hospital have been beefed up since the morning.
Brig Gen Md. Abdullah-Al-Harun, director (Hospital) Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), later briefed the media on the issue.
He said: “We have examined her [Khaleda] condition and suggested necessary medical treatment. She is stable now.”
Earlier, the law ministry issued a gazette notification saying that the trial of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and others accused in the Niko corruption case will be held at a makeshift court in Old Dhaka central jail.
