Dhaka: None can guarantee that a general election would be free from any irregularities, said Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda.
He said: “Some small-scale irregularities or anomalies can occur in general elections and none can guarantee a glitch-free public poll.”
The CEC made the comments while talking to reporters at the Election Training Institute at Agargaon today.
Replying to a query on the reported irregularities during the recent elections to three cities, he said: “The commission always try to ensure a free and fair atmosphere and we take actions against all anomalies usually take place during elections.”
“To me, the role the EC was satisfactory enough during the polls to the three cities,” he added.
