Dhaka: The Buddhist community in Bangladesh has protested and condemned the torture committed by Myanmar on the Rohingya people. Buddhists representatives expressed concern at a press briefing in the capital on Monday.
It urged the government of Myanmar to stop torturing Rohingya people. As a protest against the atrocities on Rohingyas in Myanmar, the Bangladesh Buddhist community will refrain from flying paper lanterns during Prabarana Purnima this year. The community will donate the money saved from the Prabarana Purnima celebration to Rohingya refugees in camps in Cox’s Bazar.
