Dhaka: Claiming that the country’s people, including the youth, are not in peace, Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad on Sunday said it is only his party that can bring peach and ensure good governance.
“People are not in peace now…the youth is not in peace. Drugs have engulfed everything. Now, people want a change and good governance,” he said while addressing a rally at Ulipur Stadium, reports UNB.
Ershad, a former military ruler, said there was no drug during his tenure. “There’re no killing and corruption during our tenure. People were in peace,” he said.
The programme was organised to introduce the Jatiya Party candidate in the Kurigram-3 by-polls Dr Akkas Ali Sarker. The parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of former MP Maidul Islam.
Jatiya Party Cochairman GM Quader, Secretary General ABM Ruhul Amin Hawladar and Opposition Chief Whip Tajul Islam Chowdhury also spoke at the rally held with Upazila Jatiya Party president Atiar Rahman Munshi in the chair.
