Dhaka: A Dhaka court has placed award-winning photographer Shahidul Alam on seven-day remand in a case filed under Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act.
Earlier in the day, he was shown arrested in the case filed for allegedly spreading propaganda on Facebook against the government and spreading false information over the ongoing students’ protest.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor passed the order after DB police produced the social activist before his court with a 10-day remand plea.
Detectives picked up Shahidul Alam from his Dhanmondi residence around 11pm on Sunday, soon after he gave an interview to Al Jazeera over the ongoing students’ protest.
Later, police filed a case against him with Ramna Police Station.
