Dhaka: Non-MPO teachers of the secondary school announced further continuation of their indefinite hunger strike, rejecting the assurance given by Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid.
Binoy Bhushon Roy, secretary of Non-MPO Educational Institution Teacher-Staff Federation, said: “The demonstration will be continued until we get any specific assurance from the authorities. We are rejecting the assurance of the education minister as it has not specified any deadline.”
Earlier in the day, the Education Minister, Nurul Islam Nahid, went to Jatiya Press Club premise to break the fast of the agitating teachers.
He assured the teachers of meeting their demand citing a clearance from Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith to include them in the monthly payment system.
The Non-MPO teachers have been striking to be included in monthly payment system of the government’s pay scheme since last week.
